What is binding?
Binding is the practice of flattening your chest area with the help of a binder or special binder tape. Transgender men, transmasculine, non-binary people and drag kings often bind, but cisgender women and everyone who might want to flatten their chest area can bind.
There are many reasons why one would like to bind. It can be gender-affirming in case of many trans and non-binary people, it can help with cosplaying and drag costumes, etc.
But how do you know what binder is the right one for you? Which ones are safe to bind? In this short guide we will try to help you out by picking what’s right for you and how to stay safe!
Binder safety
Disclaimer: Although binding can be done safely, it’s always advised to never wear a binder longer than 8 hours a day! If you feel any discomfort, listen to your body and take off the binder. Taking breaks in-between binding on the same day or in several days, is also recommended.
If you bind too long, you risk damaging your chest and ribs to the point you might not be able to get top surgery later on in life.
Never pick a size lower than the measured recommendation. It’s better to buy a size up than a size down!
What binder do I pick?
Paxsies Sports Binder Extra Strong
The Sports Binder Extra Strong is one of our basic binders that binds effectively! It’s a short binder with thinner straps and moisture-wicking fabric that helps you stay cool throughout the day or during any sport exercise. It has a low neckline, meaning you can wear it subtly if needed.
Paxsies Racerback Binder Extra Strong
Another binder we recommend if you sport or move a lot, is our racerback design. This short binder gives you more room around the shoulders and arms, increasing your mobility in these areas. Another plus, which might be a minus for some people, is that it sort of resembles a regular sports bra. The plus about this, is that you can use this binder and pass it off as a sports bra. Ideal for people living stealth/in the closet and/or have parents that need some extra convincing ;)
Paxsies Side Zipper Binder Extra Strong
Our side zipper design is very similar to our regular extra strong sports binder. Except, this one has two zippers on each side of the binder. Usually, binders which have a zipper on the front, aren’t safe because their compression is uneven. However, this design avoids that issue and makes this binder safe to wear. The chest compression remains the same but thanks to the zippers on the side, this binder is easier to put on and take off.
You can slightly decompress your binder by partially or fully unzipping the zippers on each side.
Paxsies Long Sports Binder Extra Strong
Last but not least, Paxsies offers a long binder that resembles a tank top. The long binder is similar to the short sports binder, except for its length of course! The binder offers you the same compression like our other binders. If you want a form-fitting binder, this one’s for you.

Binder care
All Paxsies binders can be washed at 30° C on a normal washing cycle. Afterwards, allow your binder to air dry. Don’t use a tumble dryer!
